Alfred Dunhill Antarctic Shackleton Whisky Cabinet is launched
The finishing touches are made to the highly detailed marquetry map for the Alfred Dunhill Antarctic Shackleton Cabinet during a visit to the studio by TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall. Aryma worked closely with Alfred Dunhill to create the highly detailed marquetry map for this showpiece that honours the celebrated British explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Nimrod expedition to the South Pole in 1907. In 1909 at the end of their legendary expedition, Shackleton’s crew abandoned three crates of Mackinlay Rare Old Highland Malt to the Antarctic winter. Unearthed in snow almost 100 years later, the whisky was subsequently analysed and replicated by Whyte & Mackay, the owners of the Mackinlay brand The hand-crafted oak cabinet contains three bottles of this whisky, as well as every luxury item the whisky connoisseur could require and a rare 1909 first edition copy of ‘The Heart of the Antarctic’ book, chronicling Shackleton’s experiences.
